Mattress Security and Safety - Clinical Considerations

An ill-fitting and unsecured mattress can potentially contribute to bed falls, especially for people with a disability or aged people who may have difficulty repositioning themselves.

Icare Medical Group ActiveX™ Mattresses have additional safety features to improve independence, prevent falls and for peace of mind.

Contour-Latch™ 

Contour-Latch™ secures the mattress to the mattress platform using safety straps that fasten. This prevents the mattress from slipping or moving when using the functions of the bed. This also helps mold the mattress to the mattress platform when using profiling functions.

Anti-Slip Base Fabric

Anti-Slip Base Layer – the mattress cover has non-slip silicone dot fabric on the bottom.

Other Considerations

Bed Linen – ensure the right sized bed linen is used and fits comfortably. Too tight and a ‘hammocking’ effect could cause pressure injuries. Too loose and the fabric gathering under the body can also create areas of higher pressure. Icare Bed Linen is designed to be used on adjustable beds and mattresses.

Using the height adjustment bed function to assist with transfers. All clients have different transfer requirements, the ability to lower the bed allows the user to transfer at the required height.
